BOSTON – February 25, 2026 – MassHousing has awarded $300,000 in grant funding to two nonprofit organizations in Bellingham and Lowell supporting men and veterans impacted by substance use disorder.
The grants come from the Center for Community Recovery Innovations, Inc. (CCRI), a nonprofit subsidiary corporation of MassHousing that helps nonprofit organizations create or preserve affordable sober housing in Massachusetts for individuals in recovery.
To date, CCRI has awarded nearly $17.5 million in grants for the creation or preservation of 3,200 units of substance-free housing, in 56 communities, serving recovery populations that include men, women, families, veterans, and the LGBTQ+ community.
"MassHousing is pleased to help support the creation of these new sober housing units in Bellingham and Lowell," said MassHousing CEO Chrystal Kornegay. "The mission-based organizations utilizing these CCRI grants work every day to help people recover from substance use disorder."
The CCRI grants include:
Gilly's House, Inc., Bellingham, $150,000
CCRI grant funds will help finance the development of 10 new affordable sober housing units for men in Bellingham.
The Bridge Club of Lowell, Lowell, $150,000
CCRI grant funds will help finance the development of 29 new affordable sober housing units for veterans in Lowell.
About CCRI
The Center for Community Recovery Innovations, Inc., conducts an annual open and competitive round of grant funding inviting applicants to submit projects for review. The proposals that are selected need to meet CCRI's current priorities and eligibility categories. The grants are typically used as one-time gap funding for capital projects that increase or improve the stock of affordable sober housing in Massachusetts. Other proposals that provide services and support for the recovery community across the Commonwealth are also considered for funding. CCRI grant recipients must be 501c3 non-profit organizations and matching funds must be provided. All applications and required qualifications are stringently reviewed and vetted by MassHousing.
